Cement Floors

Many of the homes we encounter are tin shacks with dirt floors. The rainy season starts in May and ends in October of every year. During the rainy season the floors in these homes become mud and as a result are a breeding ground for parasites. The families are often ill with flu and cold like symptoms. The installation of a cement floor in these dwellings greatly reduces the rate of sickness amongst the families.
The cost of installing a cement floor in a typical dwelling is $120 USD. One Guatemalan worker and four volunteers can install one cement floor per day.
