Wood Stoves

In 2012 we started installing wood stoves, thanks to the generous contribution from two individuals from Connecticut. A total of 50 stoves were installed in the villages of; La Pinada, El Sapote and San Felipe.
It has been studied that these wood stoves can extend the lifespan of a woman in Guatemala by as much as 10/15 years. These stoves also use 74% less wood, thus reducing the environmental footprint for the families, and of course with the extra time they now save from gathering wood, there is more time to work at earning a living and to also enhance the quality of life for these families.
It cost $155 USD to purchase and install a woodstove. A team of two volunteers and one Guatemalan worker can typically install 4/5 stoves per day.
